Falmouth Peace Officers Memorial Day Service
Falmouth police will conduct a memorial service May 15 for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth police in May will hold a memorial service for Peace Officers Memorial Day. The service will be held May 15 at 10 a.m. at police headquarters on Main Street. The ceremony will specifically honor Samuel Pierce, a Falmouth police officer killed in the line of duty in a motorcycle crash August 16, 1933.
The ceremony will include a procession and the placing of a memorial wreath. The public is welcome.
Peace Officers Memorial Day was created by Congress in 1961 to honor fallen law enforcement officers. This year's ceremony comes during a somber time on Cape Cod. Earlier this month, Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon was shot and killed while serving a search warrant in Barnstable.
