False Alarm For Active Shooter At Cape Cod Tech, Police Say

The school's active shooter alarm was activated, prompting a police presence but no clear reason for the alarm, officials said.

HARWICH, MA — The active shooter alarm at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School was activated on Tuesday morning, but it was determined to be a false alarm by local police officials.

Harwich officials said the alarm was activated around 8:30 a.m., prompting school resource officer John Larivee to investigate. However, it was quickly determined that there was "no obvious reason for the alarm."

Police officials from Harwich, Brewster and Chatham still responded to the scene, conducting a "thorough walk through" of the building while students remained outside the school.
