Fuel Truck Crashes Through Electric Pole On Cape Cod: Video
A truck driver was cited after Bourne police said he veered off the road and crashed while carrying 12,000 gallons of fuel.

BOURNE, MA — A truck driver hauling 12,000 gallons of fuel was "lucky" to escape unharmed after Bourne police said Tuesday he veered off the road and crashed through a utility pole. The crash happened April 21 on MacArthur Boulevard. The 63-year-old driver was cited for reckless driving and failure to stay in marked lanes. His name was not released.
A trailing motorist captured the crash on a dash cam. The truck is shown veering off the road then crashing head-on through the pole, creating an explosion. The driver told police a bird flew inside his vehicle and hit him on the head, causing him to swerve off the road.
"Officers were unable to confirm the operator’s account of the accident, observing the vehicle did not swerve and instead slowly travelled across multiple lanes without braking," Bourne police said in a statement.
