BOURNE, MA — A truck driver hauling 12,000 gallons of fuel was "lucky" to escape unharmed after Bourne police said Tuesday he veered off the road and crashed through a utility pole. The crash happened April 21 on MacArthur Boulevard. The 63-year-old driver was cited for reckless driving and failure to stay in marked lanes. His name was not released.A trailing motorist captured the crash on a dash cam. The truck is shown veering off the road then crashing head-on through the pole, creating an explosion. The driver told police a bird flew inside his vehicle and hit him on the head, causing him to swerve off the road.
