Cape Cod Beach Among Top 10 In US, Says 'Dr. Beach'

EASTHAM, MA — Coast Guard Beach is just what the doctor ordered. The annual Dr. Beach rankings of the 10 best beaches in the country were released this week, with the Eastham beach getting the nod as the sixth-best in the country, a one-spot drop from last year's rankings.

Coast Guard Beach was the only New England beach to make the rankings. The beach has a special place in history as the spot the Mayflower landed in 1620. If you were hoping to see your favorite beach on the list, check out Massachusetts's top beaches in photos.

The No. 1 beach in the country Kailua Beach Park in Oahu, Hawaii, one of three Hawaii beaches to make the cut.

Here are the top 10 beaches of 2019, according to Dr. Beach:

2. Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach, Outer Banks of North Carolina
3. Grayton Beach State Park, Florida panhandle
4. Coopers Beach, Southampton, New York
5. Duke Kahanamoku Beach, Oahu, Hawaii
6. Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts
7. Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin/Clearwater, Florida
8. Hapuna Beach State Park, Big Island, Hawaii
9. Coronado Beach, San Diego, California
10. Beachwalker Park Kiawah, Island, South Carolina

Rankings are based on factors including sand softness, water temperature, rain, rip current and safety records.
