MA State Police Pull Man From Burning Truck

Massachusetts State Police troopers smashed the window of a truck to rescue an unconscious man who crashed in Mattapoisett.

MATTAPOISETT, MA — Massachusetts State Police troopers on Saturday pulled an unconscious man from a burning truck after a horrific crash on Interstate 195 in Mattapoisett. Trooper Brandyn Henson and his field trainee Trooper Matthew Holden — who last month graduated from the State Police Academy — made the rescue on the eastbound side of the highway at about 10 a.m. Police said a 39-year-old Rochester man was driving a Dodge Dakota when for an unknown reason he veered the vehicle off the road.

"(The vehicle) drifted to the right into snow and began to fish-tale," State Police said in a statement. "The vehicle then crossed back over both travel lanes and struck a tree in the median."

Henson and Holden arrived to find "smoke and flames billowing out of the engine compartment and the operator unconscious in the driver’s seat wearing his seatbelt."
