Martha's Vineyard Dining Club Offers Unique Opportunity For Members

The new spot will be led by an award-winning chef and roll out an equity-based membership model. Here's what it means.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — An iconic building on Martha's Vineyard will get a new chapter this week when it reopens as a dining club.

The Ocean Club, a year-round semi-private dining club located in the landmark 1905 former MV National Bank in the heart of Vineyard Haven, is open as of today.

Officials said it is "inspired by the spirited 1980s venue of the same name."

The reimagined Ocean Club will blend fine dining, elevated hospitality and an intimate social atmosphere, welcoming both members and, when space allows, the public. Award-winning chef Marc Orfaly will lead the restaurant.

“We’re bringing the magic of the original Ocean Club back to life, but with a distinctly modern culinary approach rooted in seasonality, local ingredients, and coastal Mediterranean inspiration,” said Orfaly, who will serve as Culinary Director.

With a focus on exclusivity and ownership, The Ocean Club introduces a unique equity-based membership model, offering members an actual stake in both the real estate and the business.

Members will have a controlling voice in the club’s operations and priority access to reservations for themselves and their guests, officials said.

The Ocean Club is housed within the newly developed Stone Bank Condominium, a 2,680 square foot space led by developer Sam Dunn of Dunn Family LLC.

The original design, a fusion of native stone and Mediterranean terra cotta, has long made the building a standout on the Island.

A meticulous restoration preserves key historic elements, including the grand domed ceiling, stained glass clerestory arches, mahogany doors and a stainless steel bank vault, now repurposed as a wine room and communal dining centerpiece.

The seasonal menu will highlight local seafood, Vineyard-grown produce, handmade pastas and premium steaks.

A dedicated seafood bar will feature oysters, clams, raw tuna, crudo and ceviche, while the full-service bar will serve craft beer, a curated wine list and inventive cocktails "crafted to reflect the island’s relaxed yet refined spirit," officials said.

The Ocean Club will accommodate up to 85 guests across multiple dining environments:

  • Private Dining Room: An elegant 32-seat space offering privacy for special events and members-only gatherings.
  • Bar Lounge: A welcoming 20-seat bar with an atmosphere designed for conversation, craft cocktails, and casual sophistication.
  • Communal Table: A dramatic centerpiece built from the building’s original steel vault door, seating 10 for a shared, convivial dining experience.

Operations will be overseen by The Lyons Group of Boston, the hospitality group behind more than 40 venues across New England.
