No Injuries In Falmouth Fire

Officials were able to quickly extinguish a fire on the third floor of a Maker Lane property.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth fire officials were able to quickly extinguish a bathroom fire over the weekend, officials said.

Fire officials responded to Maker Lane for a reported fire that was called in around 6 p.m. on Friday.

When officials arrived, one resident was outside the home with a family pet and told officials that her husband was inside attempting to put a fire out on the third floor.

Crews entered the home and instructed the man to exit the building. They found "a smoldering roll of paper towels and charring to the floor was located on the third floor in a shower area."

Officials said the fire was caused by leftover painting tools and some rags in a waste basket in the shower area.

No one was injured, and the home was turned over to owners around 7:40 p.m., officials said.

A call from a residence on Maker Lane for a structure fire was received at Falmouth Emergency Communications just before 6 pm last night (February 7, 2025). Arriving on location, the shift commander found a three-story wood frame structure; one of the residents was outside with a family pet. She reported that her husband was inside attempting to put out the fire on the third floor. Fire crews entered the residence and instructed the second occupant to exit the building. A smoldering roll of paper towels and charring to the floor was located on the third floor in a shower area, and there was a small fire on the door to the area. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the area was made safe. A fire investigation found that the homeowner had been in the area and had left painting tools and some rags in the waste basket in the shower area. There were no reported injuries, and the home was turned back over to the owners by 7:40 pm.
