No Injuries Reported In Cape Cod Car Fire

Officials were able to contain the fire to the car in the garage, but the home suffered heat and smoke damage.

FALMOUTH, MA — A Falmouth home suffered heat and smoke damage after a car caught on fire in a residential garage, fire officials said.

At 3:40 p.m. on Monday, Falmouth officials were notified of an alarm activation on Shorewood Drive off of East Falmouth Highway. A second call came in soon after from a resident of the Shorewood Drive residence reporting that a car was on fire in the attached garage.

The incident was upgraded to a structure fire response, adding an extra fire engine and a ladder truck, along with support vehicles. The first arriving engine reported heavy smoke in the garage, and the incident was upgraded to a working fire.

The first-in engine company advanced an attack line into the garage through the living area of the residence. The garage was inaccessible through the garage door due to no outside door hardware.
