Polar Express Train Ride Returns To Cape Cod
The 90-minute experience gives riders a chance to meet Santa and live a moment from the classic tale. Here's what to know.
CAPE COD, MA — The annual Polar Express train ride on the Cape Cod Central Railroad returns this weekend.
Starting Friday and running through Dec. 21 over the weekends, the ride is set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, allowing passengers to relive the magic of the classic story.
The approximately 90-minute ride takes patrons to meet Santa.

Onboard, the conductor will punch golden tickets for each child. Dancing chefs and waiters will perform while Christmas carols play, and riders can listen to a reading of the classic children’s book, "The Polar Express", by Chris Van Allsburg.
Santa and his elves board the train at the "North Pole" to greet passengers and each guest is given the first gift of Christmas.

Each child will take home a keepsake sleigh bell and souvenir golden ticket.
Hot chocolate and Walker’s Shortbread cookies – the “Official Onboard Treat” of ride, which are individually wrapped in sealed packages, will be served to each passenger during the run.
Officials note that riders should plan to arrive 45 minutes before departure to allow time to park and pick up their tickets. Boarding begins 30 minutes before departure.
