Sunday Night Crash Closed Bourne Bridge On Cape Cod
The crash happened in a work zone as the Bourne Bridge is currently undergoing maintenance work.

BOURNE, MA — A work zone crash on the Bourne Bridge backed up traffic on Cape Cod Sunday, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said.
MassDOT officials said the crash closed traffic in both directions on the bridge at 11:53 p.m. on Sunday.
Traffic was detoured at Sandwich Road and the Scenic Highway while the crash was being worked, with officials updating the public on Monday morning that the bridge had reopened before 7 a.m.

This happened as the Bourne Bridge is undergoing a maintenance project, which is already limiting traffic flow on the bridge and prompted local officials to warn residents that they should expect delays.
"This maintenance work is critical to maintaining the structural integrity of the Bourne Bridge, a vital component to the transportation system of Cape Cod, the Islands and southeastern Massachusetts," a Army Corps of Engineers news release said.
