On January 17, 2025, BOEM approved the SouthCoast Wind Project Construction and Operations Plan (COP) 3 days before President Trump took office.

The project approved the construction of up to 141 wind turbine generators and up to five offshore substation platforms located at up to 143 positions, and up to eight offshore export cables potentially making landfall at Brayton Point or Falmouth, Massachusetts.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has responded by filing a motion to withdraw its January 2025 approval, arguing it was rushed and may not have fully complied with the law.
