Wareham Woman Murdered In New Bedford: DA

NEW BEDFORD, MA — A Wareham woman was murdered in New Bedford Monday morning, according to authorities. The victim was identified as Chantel Bruno, 34, and she was stabbed to death, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

"New Bedford Police and EMS responded to 387 Ashley Boulevard around 1:19 am today in response to calls regarding a woman screaming and bleeding outside of that residence," the Bristol DA's office said in a statement. "The Wareham woman, later identified as 34-year-old Chantel Bruno, was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where she pronounced dead as a result of stab wounds at around 2:30 this morning."

The office added, "Due to the ongoing and active nature of this investigation, no further information can be released at this time."
