3. Eat Big for the Relay for Life Tuesday at Mandarin Chef

Local residents are invited to join in the fight against cancer Tuesday in the simplest of ways ... take a break from cooking and grab your dinner at Mandarin Chef on 34 Mechanic St. Once again, they have generously agreed to donate 30 percent of total sales brought in by this fundraiser to the Relay For Life of Greater Foxboro.

There are currently 32 teams and 175 participants actively seeking donations and spreading the word as they gear up for the overnight walk on June 21-22 at Ahern Middle School in Foxborough.  Please note the team name on the flyer above (see photo gallery) if you wish to benefit somebody in particular or simply help raise the total donation by mentioning Relay that night when you dine in or take out.

5. Personal Best Karate Raises Money for Jimmy Fund

Red Sox pride was strong at Personal Best Karate earlier this year as the popular karate school –with locations in Norton, Foxborough, Easton, Norwood and Medfield – participated in the Rally Against Cancer, a fundraiser for The Jimmy Fund.

Students donated a minimum of $5 for the ability to wear a Red Sox t-shirt to class in honor of Opening Day. Normally they would wear their karate uniform to class.

Because of the generosity of the students and staff, The Jimmy Fund will be received a check for $440 from Personal Best Karate’s participants. The monies raised will go to supporting the missions of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“We are humbled by the students and staff who donated to this amazing cause,” said Christopher Rappold, founder of Personal Best Karate. “The Jimmy Fund helps so many people and we were excited to offer a fun way for people to help give.”
