Catch of the Day: Foxborough Fishing Derby Reels in Over 300 Participants Sunday

The Foxborough Recreation Department enjoyed another successful fishing derby at Neponset River as over 200 children participated in Sunday's event.

A crowd of over 300 people – including 200 children – casted out lines in Neponset River Sunday for the Foxborough Recreation Department’s annual fishing derby.

Fish of all kinds were caught, measured and released and a great time was had by all, including Gene “The Fishing Machine” Ellison, a professional bass angler in town for the annual derby.

“Had a blast meeting new fishing friends at the Foxboro Kids Fishing Derby,” Ellison said via his Facebook page. “Thanks to the Foxboro Recreation Department on a great job. Thanks to all of the parents and kids who participated (300-plus) and special thanks to my friends at Bass Pro Shops, Tony, Manny and all for helping me get my awesome wrapped Nitro Z-9 bass boat and Tundra un-stuck from the wooded access road. We had a blast.”
