Foxborough Native Austin DeCarr Expected to be Selected in 2013 MLB Player Draft This Weekend
The Xaverian Brothers star is projected to be chosen between rounds 25-30 of the 40-round Major League Baseball player draft, which begins Thursday at 7 p.m.
There’s some local interest in Major League Baseball's 2013 first-year player draft as Foxborough native Austin DeCarr is projected to be selected in the later rounds, according to New England Baseball Journal.
DeCarr, who graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood on May 17th, is expected to be selected somewhere between rounds 25-30 of the 40-round player draft, which begins Thursday at 7 p.m., according to New England Baseball Journal.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Foxborough native spent the spring as one of Xaverian’s captains and top starting pitchers and enters the 2013 MLB first-year player draft as a right-handed pitcher with a fastball in the low to mid 90s to go with a strong curveball and changeup, according to New England Baseball Journal. He was a 2013 Rawlings All-Region First Team preseason selection – one year after helping the Xaverian baseball team capture the MIAA Division 1 state title.

Xaverian’s state title defense ended quickly in 2013 at the hands of Norwood as the Mustangs defeated DeCarr’s Hawks, 9-7 in the first round of the MIAA D1 South Sectional state tournament.
If DeCarr is selected, it will likely happen during Saturday's portion fo the draft, which features rounds 11-40, beginning at 1 p.m.
