Life on other planets lecture at library, town begins spring street sweeping, and The Learning Center for the Deaf coordinator honored.

1. The Director of the Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center for Education and Teaching Excellence on the campus of Framingham State University will speak tonight at the main Framingham Library.

Dr. Irene Porro will present “One World, Many Worlds: Searching for Life on Other Planets” at 7 in the Costin room. Her free lecture will explore astrobiology, a science devoted to the search for, and study of, the origins, evolution, distribution, and future life of the universe.

The public event is part of the Lifelong Learning Lecture Series, a collaboration between Framingham State University and the Framingham Public Library, which is funded in part by the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

2. The Town of Framingham has started its annual spring street sweeping program. Cars will be towed, if not moved. Residents will be given notice of street sweeping in advance. Click here for this week’s schedule and more details.

5. The Learning Center for the Deaf’s Nancy Vincent-Meotti received one of the MCDHH/MA Service Provider of the Year awards at the Massachusetts State House this week.

She has worked as the Parent Infant Coordinator at The Learning Center for the Deaf for 26 years and was the first Deaf person in the country to direct a parent infant program.

She is also the parent of two Learning Center for the Deaf graduates. The Center is located in Framingham.
