5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: August 12
Ice cream social for children and wiiU tournament for teens at the Framingham Public Library.
1. There will be a detour in the Auburn Street neighborhood today. It was supposed to be yesterday, but was moved to today due to the weather. Auburn Street will be closed at the intersection of Edgell Road due to the installation of drain line and structures. See the attached map for the detour.
2. The children’s department of the Framingham Public Library will host an ice cream social and movie screening today at 2 p.m. After ice cream is served at the main Framingham Library, there will be a free screening of the movie Big Hero 6, which is rated PG.
3. The teen department of the Framingham Public Library is hosting a Super SmashBrothers wiiU tournament tonight from 5 to 8 at the main library. The event is limited to 32 participants and had a wait list as of Monday.

4. The brightest meteor shower of the year should have prime viewing tonight and tomorrow. The 2015 Perseid meteor shower is typically the brightest of the year. And Earthsky.org says that this year should be an especially good year for Perseids since the moon will not come out until after sunrise, avoiding the pesky bright light it gives off.

5. Amazing Things Arts Center’s monthly Cabaret Open Mic features singer Janis Hudson. Afterwards the microphone is open until 10 p.m. Admission is $10. Click here for more details.
