5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: August 24

Framingham Board of Health to hold hearings on six restaurants in town tonight and school offices closed for an all-staff Convocation.

1. Today, Framingham Public School staff members will gather for the 3rd Annual Convocation at Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building, where Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott will address staff. School and administrative offices will be be closed until 11;30 a.m.

2. School Committee member Eric Silverman held a coffee hour with parents yesterday, and will do so again today from 5 to 6 p.m. at B Sisters Café (former Panache).

3. Brophy Elementary School will hold a back-to-school event for students, parents and teacher from 6 to 8 p.m. The fifth grade class is hosting the event. Food and tickets for activities will be available for purchase.

4. Framingham Board of Health is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Blumer room. On the agenda at 8;30 p.m. is administrative hearings on the following restaurants in town: Red Pepper, Kugel’s Deli, Ken’s Steakhouse, Pho Dakao, Imperial China, and Sichuan Gourmet.

5. The Town Meeting Government Study Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7. On the agenda is potential by-law changes for the Board of Health, Town Moderator, Town Meeting and Town officials. The meeting will take place in conference room 1 in the Memorial Building.
