5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: August 28

Last day to drop off socks for Veterans and CD release party at Amazing Things Arts Center tonight.

Today, Aug. 28 is the last day socks may dropped off at the Framingham Veterans Services office in the Memorial Building (Room B11).

2. Just a reminder, the Memorial Building is only open until 1 p.m. today, as part of the summer hours pilot program.

3. There is a CD release party for the band RUN tonight at Amazing Things Arts Center, as part of its Young Artists Series

“Run is an acoustic-indie-folk-pop-rock band with a very new twist. On August 28, Run will be releasing their very first full-length album, “Ready To Run”. An album infused with lyrics pertaining to self-discovery and standing strong in the face of difficulty. All three members of Run: Jay Freitas, Shelby McCready and Chris D’Amico, hail from Northboro,” writes Amazing Things.

Tickets available at the door. General Admission $10. Show starts at 8 p.m.

4. Potter Road Elementary School is holding a back-to-school picnic tonight at 5:30.

5. Just a reminder, if you child is getting a bus with the Framingham Public Schools and you must pay a fee it is due by September 1.

The fee for the 2015-2016 school year is $270 per child / $540 family maximum.

Payment may be mailed or made in person, in the form of a check or money order, payable to the Town of Framingham. Cash will not be accepted.

Fee waiver: Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Meals are eligible for a waiver of the bus fee.
