5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Sept. 1

Both Framingham Selectmen and School Committee are meeting tonight at 7. Saint Bridget students start school today.

1. School starts today at 7:40 a.m. for Saint Bridget students in grades 4-8. It will be a half day with dismissal at 11 a.m.

Saint Bridget students in grades Pre-K to 3 will be visiting their classrooms and dropping off school supplies.

  • 9-10 a.m.: Grades PreK-3: Last names beginning with A-M will visit classrooms.
  • 10-11 a.m.: Grades PreK-3: Last names beginning with N-Z will visit classrooms.


The first official full day of school for all students at Saint Bridget School is Tuesday, Sept 8.

2. Framingham Selectmen are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Building. On the agenda is to approve a change of hours for Art House Grille on Water Street, granting a license to Jack’s Abbey at 100 Clinton Street and discussion of six proposals of medical marijuana dispensaries in Framingham.

3. Framingham School Committee is also scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in King Elementary School in the basement. On the agenda is a report from Kevin King, a special assistant to Superintendent Stacy Scott, on registration and management of the Parent Information Center. Chief Academic Officer Sonia Diaz will make a presentation on professional development and the new Assistant Superintendent of Schools will make a presentation on communication strategies, including social media.
