5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: September 8
Marian High orientation and Framingham High open house for parents. Final day to vote for Framingham girl to star in American Girl film.
1. Marian High students have their first day of school for the 2015-16 year on Wednesday but there is a freshman orientation and upper class orientation today.
- Freshman, international students and new transfer students have an orientation from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today.
- Returning upper classmen have an orientation from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
2. Parents of Framingham High students are invited to the annual open house tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Parents will attend all their teen’s classes and meet teachers while learning about curriculum, expectations, and future opportunities.
“This is the most important night of the year for learning about the school and I urge you to make every effort to attend,” said Principal Elyse Torbert.

The evening starts with homeroom at 7 p.m. and then parents attend each of their teen’s classes for 10 minutes.
Parents are asked to car pool, as parking may be at a premium.

3. FLYERS in action:
- The Framingham High golf team will host Natick today at 3:45 p.m.
- The freshman boys soccer team has a game against the Wildcats of Weymouth at 3:45 p.m.
- The freshman girls soccer team travels to Weymouth for a 3:45 p.m. game.
4. Framingham Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Blumer Room in the Memorial Building.
5. A Framingham girl is one of five finalists to star in American Girl film. Today is the final day of public voting. Emily Grace is one of five finalists for the role of Julie Albright in an upcoming American Girl film.
