AAA: Gas Prices Drop 24 Cents In Past Month

The current price in the Commonwealth is 20 cents less than the national average at $2.40 per gallon for self serve.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down eight more cents from last week, and are at the lowest point locally since mid-April, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham on Route 9.

AAA’s August 24 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.40 per gallon, down eight cents from last week.

Prices locally are 24 cents less than a month ago.

The current price is 20 cents less than the national average for self-serve unleaded of $2.60.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $1.05 higher at $3.45.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 66 cents, from a low of $2.23 to a high of $2.89. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every trip, every time.

  • $2.409 ($2.239-$2.899) Regular Unleaded
  • $2.699 ($2.419-$3.199) Midgrade Unleaded
  • $2.899 ($2.699-$3.499) Premium Unleaded
  • $2.749 ($2.539-$3.699) Diesel
