On Sunday, September 8, at 10 am, Edwards Church, United Church of Christ, in Framingham, will hold a Blessing of the Animals. The service will be held outdoors, under and around a tent, at 39 Edwards Street. All of God’s creatures are invited to attend. Please be sure dogs, cats, and other beloved animal companions are appropriately restrained and have plenty of their favorite treats. Pictures of animals who have gone on to “sainthood” can also be brought along for a blessing.

The Blessing of the Animals is a tradition that dates back to the 13th century, when Francis of Assisi preached to the birds, inspired a wolf and a town to mutual respect, and taught the sacredness of all of God’s creation.

Members of the bluegrass-folk group On the Fence will offer lively, inspiring music.
