Field Hockey Coach to Run Boston Marathon to Support Boston Children's Hospital

Framingham State field hockey coach Leah Hartwell will run 2015 Boston Marathon in honor of her sister, who has Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.

Leah Hartwell, the head field hockey coach at Framingham State University, will be running the 2015 Boston Marathon with the Boston Children’s Hospital team on April 20.

Hartwell’s sister was born with an extremely rare connective tissue disorder called Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.

“Due to all of her complications growing up, and still to this day, Children’s Hospital has become a second home to our family. Without the hard work, expertise, and determination of each and every doctor, nurse, and employee in that hospital, we wouldn’t have Courtney with us today. There truly are no words or any way to express our gratitude for everything they have done for us throughout the years,” wrote Hartwell on her fundraising page.
