The Flyers travelled to Milton for their first game to take on the Wildcats.
Below are recaps of the 6th and 7th grade games.
6th Grade
Milton got off to a rapid start against Framingham by scoring a touchdown early in the first quarter, but the tough Flyer defense was able to stop Milton’s extra point run. The Wildcats were then able to take possession again after a Framingham fumble on the kickoff and quickly scored once again to make the score 12-0.
Again, the Flyer defense stifled Milton’s extra point attempt with a tackle by Joseph Balboni. On their first offensive position, Framingham was forced to punt after a few plays, but a deep punt by Marcus O’Brien made the Wildcats start far away from the Framingham end zone. Despite solid defensive stops by Flyers Damarion Perry, Cody Coleman, and Jacques Cazeau, Milton ended with a 19-0 lead after scoring one more touchdown.
The Flyers had a stronger second half, only allowing one touchdown. Cody Coleman ran the ball well on offense, but the Flyers couldn’t find the end zone during the game. However, they still played with effort and had some powerful tackles, such as some tackles for loss by Connor Smith.
Unfortunately, the Flyers lost by a score of 26-0, but they can take some positives away from this game and use them to improve during the season.
7th Grade
The Flyers’ 7th Grade team looked hungry for a win right from the get go. They didn’t hesitate to score quickly, as a 36 yard run by Akye Boston set up a 7-yard touchdown run by Jamar Williams. Waldeney Santos Jr.’s extra point run made the score 7-0 in favor of the Flyers.
The Flyers then got the ball back when they forced Milton to punt, and Jamar Williams and Robert Viele helped rush the ball down the field. Akye Boston capped the drive off with a 6-yard touchdown run, extending the Flyers’ lead to 13-0.
Milton then responded to Framigham’s points with a touchdown of their own, but only after enduring a big sack by Andrew MacIsaac and Dante Marino and a touchdown saving tackle by Heriberto Lopez.
The Flyers showed that they were determined to not give up any more points when the Milton 2-point kick attempt was blocked by Shawn Ashe. Framingham had one more drive before halftime, and they made it count as several Jamar Williams runs (one of which included a speedy spin move) lead to an explosive 47-yard touchdown run by Akye Boston.
Milton wasn’t able to keep possession of the ball very long to start the second half, as Robert Viele recovered a Wildcat fumble at the Milton 10 yard line. Jamar Williams had a 5-yard run and Akye Boston quickly punched in another 5-yard run for a touchdown, making the score 25-6 Framingham.
Some other highlights from the second half include a 35-yard punt return by Jamar Williams to set the Flyer offense up near the goal line and touchdown runs by Peter Sinesi and William Villafane.
Aided by the deftness and electrifying speed of their running backs, great offensive blocking to give the running backs space, and stingy defense, the Flyers won the game by a score of 38-6.
Next week, the Flyers travel to Natick to face our rivals.
