UPDATED: Framingham Girl Finalist To Star In American Girl Film

A Framingham girl is one of five finalists to star in American Girl film.

Emily Grace was named this week, one of five finalists for the role of Julie Albright in an upcoming American Girl film!

The next step in the casting process is a public vote. The deadline to vote is Tuesday, Sept 8.

When you get to the landing page choose, Julie. (American Girl is also casting for MaryEllen.)

When you go to vote, all five girls, who are vying for the role of “Julie,” each have a video reciting the same passage from a script. Watch the the video and then vote for your favorite Julie. The girls range in age from 10-13 and come from all over the country.

“We are all thrilled for her, as she has loved acting since she was little; and this is really a dream come true,” said her mom. (

Last month, American Girl announced its plans to bring its BeForever historical characters to life with a nation-wide casting call to cast in a short film a girl to star as Julie Albright from the 1970s and another girl to star as American Girl’s newest historical character from the 1950s, Maryellen Larkin.

Girls who auditioned chose to read for either the Maryellen or Julie characters (or both) from provided scripts and upload videos to American Girl.

A total of 10 girls, who best embody the spirit of Maryellen and Julie moved on to a public voting phase, starting August 31.

The two winning girls - one Julie and one Maryellen, will each receive a cash prize of $10,000, as well as a trip to film the movie.

The 15-minute short films are being developed – from screenplays to casting to production – by the Tongal creative community and shown on American Girl’s social channels and website.
