UPDATED: Framingham Jr. Flyers Win Squirt State Championship

The Framingham Youth Hockey team won in double overtime against a combined Wilberham/Twin Meadow Squirt team on Sunday.

The Framingham Jr. Flyers Squirt C Team defeated the Wilberham/Twin Meadow Squirt A team, in a thrilling double overtime final game to capture the State Tier IV Championship, this past weekend.

The Jr. Flyers, with a record of 42-3-2, earned an invite to represent their district, after defeating a strong team from Acton/Boxborough on Presidents day last month.

The team is coached by Steve Boulas, Mike Angelo, Guy Gelardi, and Patrick Horrigan.

After the pool round of play at the state tournament, the Jr. Flyers entered the semi-final round as the #4 seed.

The team earned a spot, despite a loss to the Wilberham/Twin Meadow team.

Framingham had the tournament's best goals against average at 1.60.

In the semi-final game, Framingham shutout the tournament's top seed, a high-scoring team from Hingham, setting up the rematch with the Squirt A team from Wilberham/Twin Meadow.
