Man Wanted On Child Rape Charge Stopped While Boarding Plane

Octaviano Boche Arevalo was intercepted only minutes before he was to board a flight to Guatemala.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Wanted by Framingham police, a city man accused of raping a child was stopped at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Aug. 23 while trying to leave the U.S. for Guatemala.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted Octaviano Boche Arevalo, 48, from Guatemala, with a felony warrant attempting to depart the U.S. on a flight to Guatemala. Boche Arevalo has no legal status in the United States and was previously ordered removed five times, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Last Thursday, Trooper Erik Karlon from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section assisted Framingham Police in locating Boche Arevalo, who was accused of rape of a child with force.

“As a law enforcement agency, CBP takes every opportunity to collaborate with other law enforcement agencies at all levels in our quest to intercept illegal activity and those who are suspected of committing such,” said Area Port Director, Area Port of Dallas, Cleatus P. Hunt Jr., in a statement. “This arrest is an example of our dedication to working with our partners to keep our communities safe and apprehend those who violate U.S. law.”

Framingham police contacted CBP in Boston in attempt to intercept Boche Arevalo, who was suspected of evading arrest by departing the country. CBP found out that Boche Arevalo was boarding a flight to Guatemala that was leaving Dallas. Only minutes before the flight was set to depart, CBP officers intercepted him at the jetway.

CBP officers arrested the suspect and turned him over to Dallas Fort Worth Airport Department of Public Safety where he awaits extradition to Framingham.
