Framingham Opens Cooling Centers For Week Of High Temperatures
Cooling centers will be open through Thursday in Framingham. Here's when and where.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — In response to the scorching temperatures expected this week, the City of Framingham is initiating measures to safeguard its residents.
Three cooling centers will be operational on Tuesday, June 18, Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21.

Due to the Juneteenth holiday on Wednesday, June 19, city buildings will be closed. To accommodate residents seeking relief from the heat, the Pelham Lifelong Learning Center at 103 Second Street will be open from 11 AM to 6 PM.
The designated municipal buildings will provide air-conditioned spaces, complimentary water, and other amenities to help individuals beat the heat. These include:

• Main Framingham Public Library, 49 Lexington Street (during business hours)
• Christa McAuliffe Library branch, 746 Water Street (during business hours)
• Callahan Center Senior Services, 535 Union Avenue (during business hours)
Residents and non-residents alike are welcome to utilize these facilities during their operational hours.
During extreme temperatures, heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can pose serious risks. It's crucial to take precautions:
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a closed vehicle, as interior temperatures can skyrocket rapidly.
• Avoid strenuous activities and pace yourself.
• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, preferably water.
• Dress in lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to help stay cool.
• Limit sun exposure, especially during peak hours, and provide adequate shade for pets. • Use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
