Framingham Police Officer Aids Baby Who Stopped Breathing

Two parents rushed into the police station Tuesday night with their 2-month-old, who was struggling to breathe.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - A Framingham police officer trained CPR instructor rescued a baby Tuesday night who was unable to breathe.

Lt. Rachel Mickens, the department spokesperson, said Wednesday evening that a couple rushed into the Framingham Police Department at 1 William H. Welch Way shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday night seeking help for their 2-month-old child, who was struggling to breathe.

"Officer Ryan Porter, who also serves as a CPR instructor for the department, was assigned to the front desk and immediately began to evaluate the infant," according to Mickens. "Just moments later, the infant stopped breathing."

She added that Porter administered "a series of back blows" to the baby that cleared the obstructed airway, "and the infant began to breathe freely."
