Parts of the school district have used Facebook for several months, and some school clubs, activities, and sports teams for a couple of years, but this is central administration’s first Facebook page. Many of the school’s PTOs have had Facebook pages for years too.

In just a couple of days, the Facebook page has more than 300 followers.

A communications and public relations task force, created by the Framingham School Committee, earlier this year, made several recommendations to the district on how to improve communications with parents, students, teachers, and the community. One recommendation was to increase the use of social media. The task force also recommended an overhaul of the district’s website.

The Framingham School Committee also plans to launch an official Facebook page this month.
