Framingham Resident Wins 6 Ribbons at Professional Photographers Convention

Paula Swift Photography also presented a newborn photography workshop at the 2016 Convention.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Paula Swift Photography, Inc. of Sudbury, won a half dozen awards at the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts 2016 Convention.

Owner and and photographer Paula Swift won three blue merit ribbons and three red ribbons for her photographs.

The 2016 Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts Convention was held Feb. 26-29 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

Swift received three blue merit ribbons for photographs titled:

  • “Snowed In” of the Wayside Inn Grist mill right after the most recent snowstorm
  • “Crate Trained” of a 9 week old puppy
  • “Nested” of a 2 week old newborn boy.

Swift also received three red ribbons on photographs titled:

  • “My Brother, My Protector”
  • “ Pea In A Pod”
  • “Hey Look, A Squirrel”

There were 217 entries from Massachusetts and out-of-state professional photographers.

The images were judged by a panel of 6 professional photographer jurors who came in from across the country.

The entries were judged on 12 elements which include: "Impact, Technical Excellence, Creativity, Style, Composition, Presentation, Color Balance, Center of Interest, Lighting, Subject Matter, Technique and Storytelling."

Swift, a Framingham resident, was also a featured speaker at the Convention. Her program titled “Newborn Photography” kicked off the convention as the first speaker on Friday Feb. 26. She had a live demonstration photographing a 10 day old with her 2 year old sister and parents in front of photographers from all over New England.

The 4-day convention, which included speakers every day along with a trade show on Saturday had almost 300 photographers in attendance. The largest attendance in many years for the PPAM convention.

Paula Swift Photography, Inc. specializes in newborn, children, family and high school senior portrait photography. Paula Swift has been a professional photographer for 21 years, is a Master Photographer and a Certified Professional Photographer.

She was a 2014 Photographer of the Year-Bronze Medalist by the PPA.

Swift is also well known as an editorial photographer in Massachusetts, as she was a photojournalist for 10 years at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, a New York Times Company. She has won several national awards including the recognition of her and the photography staff at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as finalists for the 1999 Pulitzer Prize in Feature

Swift will be teaching another newborn photography class to photographer in May 2016 though the PPA’s Super One Day.
