Framingham Schools Expand Dual Language Program

Applications to expand the Dual Language Bilingual Education Programs to Fuller Middle School and Cameron Middle School have been approved.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Dual Language Bilingual Education Programs will expand to two additional Framingham schools, district officials announced.

These programs will expand to Fuller Middle School and Cameron Middle School, and have been approved earlier than anticipated by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, district officials said.

The Dual Language Bilingual Education Program at Fuller Middle School will focus on instruction in Spanish and English, and the program at Cameron Middle School will focus on instruction in Portuguese and English.

The programs will begin during the 2025-2026 school year and aim to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, sociocultural competency, and academic excellence among students.

"We are excited to expand this unique educational opportunity for the students we serve," Superintendent Bob Tremblay said, in a statement.

"The Dual Language Bilingual Education Program prepares students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world and nurtures the linguistic and social skills critical to success in the 21st century. Through immersive learning experiences and a standards-based curriculum focused on real-world applications, students will gain linguistic skills in two languages, a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures and perspectives that contribute to the greater Framingham community and our global society."

Framingham Public Schools is also home to Dual Language Bilingual Education Programs at:

  • Barbieri Elementary School in Spanish and English
  • Brophy Elementary School in Spanish and English
  • Potter Road Elementary in Portuguese and English
  • Harmony Grove Elementary in Portuguese and English
  • Walsh Middle School in Spanish and English
  • Framingham High School in Spanish and English
