Framingham Student Athletes Honored in Boston Friday

The annual Massachusetts Celebration of Girls and Women in Sport Day celebrates three young Framingham athletes this year.

BOSTON, MA — Three of Framingham's top student-athletes will be among those honored Friday during ceremonies at Faneuil Hall for the annual Massachusetts Celebration of Girls and Women in Sport Day.

Katie Puumala, Isabella Ricchiazzi and Rachel Krueger will head to the 10 a.m. event in Boston for what the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association calls, "a formal but fun recognition day for high school female athletes and the adults who support and inspire them." This year's theme is "Expanding Opportunity." The event is co-sponsored by the MIAA and the New Agenda: Northeast.

Puumala and Ricchiazzi are Framingham High School athletes. Puumala plays ice hockey, while Ricchiazzi plays soccer and wrestles. Krueger is a Marian High School student from Framingham. She has three sports under her belt, playing golf, basketball and lacrosse.
