Framingham Teacher On Leave After Charlie Kirk Social Media Posts

It's at least the second teacher who was placed on leave after sharing commentary on social media this week.

The teacher hasn't been officially identified by the district, but a video has been shared widely on social media through various accounts. Officials said she is on leave with an internal review ongoing.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A teacher in the Framingham Public Schools district has been placed on leave for what appears to be her social media commentary after the death of Charlie Kirk, who has most frequently been identified as a "conservative activist" after his death this week.

Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University.

Superintendent Bob Tremblay issued a statement, first published by MetroWest Daily News, addressing the move.

"As a District, we are committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for everyone. We do not condone violence or hateful behavior in any form. While the law prevents us from discussing specific personnel matters, the employee is on leave pending an internal review. Be assured that we're addressing the situation in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies."

There was a police presence at another school in Massachusetts after a teacher's comments sparked "heated debate, millions of views and brought into question the safety of school operations for both students and staff."

Police were present at Wachusett Regional High School on Thursday morning, and that teacher has also been placed on leave.

The shooting of Kirk occurred at 12:10 p.m. during a Q&A session at Utah Valley University in Orem. Videos circulating online appear to show Kirk recoiling after a shot was heard, with blood pouring from his neck.

A university spokeswoman, Ellen Treanor, told the New York Times that Kirk was struck about 20 minutes after he began speaking on campus. She said a suspect had fired at Kirk from the Losee Center, a building about 200 yards away.
