Framingham West Nile Virus Risk Low Despite Neighboring Cases

Mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile Virus in Natick in Wayland. Here's what it means for Framingham.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — West Nile Virus risk in Framingham is still low despite positive mosquitoes in the neighboring communities of Natick and Wayland, city officials said.

Still, there are ways to prevent infection and mosquito contact, which the city recommended in the list below:

  1. Be prepared: Know your risk – repair screens, clean up or get rid of mosquito breeding sites, be aware of stagnant water on private property and consult the Framingham Health Department webpage (PUBLIC HEALTH | City of Framingham, MA Official Website (framinghamma.gov) on the City’s website.
  2. Wear long sleeves and long pants from dusk to dawn when weather permits
  3. Use mosquito netting on baby carriages and playpens
  4. Wear mosquito repellent with an EPA-registered active ingredient when outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn
  5. Dump standing water twice weekly
