Framingham's Learned Pond Closed Until Further Notice
There is an elevated E. coli count in the water, which led to the closure of the beach during the hottest weekend of the summer
FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham Recreation Department announced Friday afternoon that the bathing beach at Learned Pond is closed due to an elevated E. coli bacteria count.
This is occurring on the hottest weekend of the summer so far, with temperatures expected to reach the high 90s.
Some strains of E. coli can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea and vomiting if water containing them is ingested.

The water will be re-tested and the waterfront will open once the bacteria is back within acceptable limits, according to the recreation department.
Swimming may cause illness if the water is ingested. The beach will be open for sunbathing, while staff is present, while the waterfront is closed.
