Funeral Sunday For Ralph 'Sonny' Tirro Jr., 72

The Framingham resident honorably served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam in military intelligence.

He was the husband of 31 years to Kathleen W. (Ford) Tirro of Framingham.

Born in Everett, he was the son of the late Ralph M. and Ruth O. (Blinn) Tirro. He was a graduate of the University of Colorado and received his masters degree from Assumption College.

From 1969 to 1973, he honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam in military intelligence as NCO.

For many years, he owned and operated AAMCO Transmission in Somerville.

Besides his wife, Sonny is survived by his children, Shelia George and her husband Jim of Attleboro, Ralph M. Tirro, III and his wife Heidi of Marlboro, Timothy Malo of Framingham and Brian Malo and his wife, Lilian of Framingham. He is also survived by his sisters, Anne Fryar, Edith Mahoney both of Newton; three grandchildren, David, James and Siena along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends from TJ’s in Ashland. He was the brother of the late Frank Tirro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, August 9, from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., (corner of Union Ave), Framingham.

Burial will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to acknowledge Hospice of the Good Shepherd, with great appreciation for the wonderful care and compassion Sonny received and helping him transition into his final journey.
