Man Gets $1 Million In Wrongful Rape, Kidnapping Conviction
The man has maintained his innocence for three decades.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—A Framingham man wrongly convicted of kidnapping and raping a young girl in the (then) town is receiving $1 million in damages from the state after winning his case on Tuesday, according to reports.
Kevin O'Loughlin was initially found guilty for assaulting an 11-year-old girl in the woods near her home in 1982, reports the Milford Daily News. He was 19 at the time, and has maintained his innocence since. The case was reopened a few years ago when a Framingham police lieutenant found new evidence that led them to a different suspect. O'Loughlin's charges were dropped when he was given a new trial in 2015.
O'Loughlin was given $5 million, but the cap is $1 million under state law.
