UPDATE: Marshfield Ends Framingham's Season

The Flyers boys ice hockey team finishes the season with an impressive 15-4-5 record, under head coach Paul Spear.

BROCKTON, MA - The Framingham Flyers boys hockey team was knocked out of the state hockey tournament by Marshfield Saturday night in Brockton.

The Flyers lost in the MIAA Division 1 South quarterfinals 5-0.

A five-minute, 3-goal scoring spree early in the first period was the difference in the game.

Marshfield scored just minutes into the game on a pass from the Flyers left wing corner in front which was one-timed into the net for a 1-0 Marshfield lead.

Marshfield wasn’t done, scoring quickly again.

A rush down the left wing by Marshfield led to a pass across the front of the Flyer crease for a tip in goal and a 2-0 lead.

Marshfield extended that lead with 8:00 minutes left in the first period on a shot from the left point. The first period ended 3-0.

The Flyers didn’t quit, generating a number of shots and quality scoring opportunities throughout the middle period. Marshfield’s goalie came up big, making 2 big saves on one-timers during a Flyer power play and additional notable saves during a loose puck flurry in front of the Marshfield net. Marshfield extended their lead on power play goal at the 11:22 mark of the second period.

Down 4-0 entering the third period the Flyers kept coming, again generating several quality scoring opportunities but couldn’t crack the Marshfield goaltender.

Marshfield added a goal late in the third period.
