UPDATED: More Than Half Of Town Meeting Seats Have No Candidates
Framingham resident Sharon Machlis did an analysis of Town Meeting seats, with election day scheduled for Tuesday, April 7.

Tuesday, April 7 is election day in Framingham. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Her analysis concluded “only 2 of 18 precincts have enough Town Meeting candidates this year, leaving more than half of TM seats on the April 7 ballot without a declared candidate.”

There is not a single contested election for any regular 3-year Town Meeting seat, wrote Machlis.
The lone contested Town Meeting seat is a 2-year vacancy in precinct 4.

Overall, there are only 44 candidates for 72 full 3-year Town Meeting terms town-wide, and just 4 announced candidates for 33 1- and 2-year vacancies, according to her analysis.

Write-in votes are allowed for any Town Meeting precincts on Tuesday.
Candidates with questions about a write-in campaign should contact the Framingham Town Clerk’s office on Monday, April 6.
On Tuesday, voters will see contested races for Framingham Selectmen and School Committee.
Voters will elect 2 individuals to the 7-member School Committee for 3-year terms and elect one Selectman for a 3-year term.
Candidates for School Committee are incumbent Beverly Hugo and challengers Jim Kelly and Scott Wadland.
