MutualOne Foundation Awards $3,500 to Support Free Legal Representation for Low-Income Individuals

Based in Framingham, MetroWest Legal Services provides free legal advocacy in civil cases to protect and advance the rights of individuals.

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a trustee of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced the Foundation has awarded $3,500 to MetroWest Legal Services.

Based in Framingham, MetroWest Legal Services provides free legal advocacy in civil cases to protect and advance the rights of the poor, elderly, disabled, homeless, and other disenfranchised individuals.

“The number of eligible clients seeking these services continues to grow,” said Haranas, in a press release. “We want to do what we can to assure that those who qualify for assistance are able to receive that assistance.”

For the past six years, MutualOne Bank and its Charitable Foundation combined have been a major sponsor of the Nancy King Memorial Golf Tournament, MetroWest Legal Services’ annual fundraiser, and have also provided financial support through donations for over a decade.

The grant to MetroWest Legal Services was among awards totaling $85,350 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.

Since it was established in 1998, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated over $3 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enhance the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.

MutualOne Bank, which operates under an 1889 state charter, has full-service offices at 828 Concord Street and One Lincoln Street in Framingham and at 49 Main Street in Natick, a Commercial Loan Center at 160 Cochituate Road in Framingham, and a Residential Loan Center at 49 Main Street in Natick.
