Parks and Recreation Director To Be Framingham's New Assistant Town Manager

James P. Duane was named Framingham Parks and Recreation Director in April 2014, replacing the retiring Bob Merusi.

Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin is expected to unveil his choice for the Town’s new Assistant Town Manager this week.

Framingham Patch has learned that Halpin will unveil Wednesday night Framingham Parks & Recreation Director James Duane to replace Jennifer Thompson, who left this summer to become the Town Administrator in Plainville.

Duane was named Parks & Recreation Director in April 2014, replacing the retiring Bob Merusi. He served as interim director before being named director.

Duane joined the Town of Framingham in 2006 as the Division Operations Manager for the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department providing oversight of the multi-departmental operations division.

In 2013, he was promoted to Deputy Directory.

Duane has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Framingham State University.

Duane lives in Ashland.
