During his remarks, the President acknowledged that Hill Air Force Base is leading by example by getting a portion of its overall energy through renewables including the on-site solar array.

Ameresco implemented a multi-phase Energy Savings Performance Contract at the Hill Air Force Base beginning in 2003.

As part of the Energy Savings Performance Contract, Ameresco installed a 210kW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array which was commissioned in 2009.

Ameresco currently maintains and operates the solar PV array, in addition to a 2.25MW landfill gas to energy (LFGTE) system at the base.

Ameresco’s partnership with the Hill Air Force Base has earned many recognitions and awards for the Air Force.

The LFGTE plant was the first landfill gas generation project in Utah and was the first for the Air Force and the Department of Defense.
