'Signal Issues' Prompt Severe Commuter Rail Delays

Delays impacted the Worcester, Framingham, Greenbush​, Kingston/Plymouth​ and Middleboro​ lines during the morning commute.

"Signal issues" caused serious delays on the Worcester-Framingham commuter rail line Wednesday morning, prompting a flurry of apologies from operator Keolis' Boston team.

Residual delays continued beyond the commute.

According to the commuter rail's rider alerts, signal problems delays passengers on the Worcester, Framingham, Greenbush, Kingston/Plymouth and Middleboro lines during the morning commute.

At their worst, trains were delayed up to 45 minutes, per the MBTA. At least one train was cancelled. When some trains did arrive, riders complained on Twitter of being "stuffed in like sardines" due to resulting overcrowding.
