The former Framingham High football player had more than 90 amateur fights before last night’s bout on the Memorial Series II card for Murphys Boxing. He said he fought for seven years, but trained for two years before he even fought, “so he could be ready” when he got in the ring.

Ramos, who now trains at Bancroft Boxing in Framingham, brought a large and loud crowd to Memorial Hall in Melrose to cheer him on.

He was in control of his fight from the start, although he said he ”panicked” a bit in the first round.

Ramos, 23, said his opponent had a “weird, aggressive style,” which had him off his game in that first round.

He said when he came back to his corner, he listened. He said he was told to “calm down and wait for your punches.”

“I did,” said Ramos, in the second round.

“I landed punches to the head and the body,” and “I stopped him,” said Ramos of his knockout.

“It felt good to be out there,” said Ramos.
