Support a Solution to the Housing Crisis
Our seniors, our young people, our teachers and other members of the municipal workforce should be able to afford a home.

Over the years, the use of zoning codes to prevent homes from being built across the Commonwealth has had a profound negative impact; the lack of housing supply has made buying or renting a home prohibitively expensive because when there is a shortage of housing, wealthier buyers and renters bid up the cost of housing for the few homes that are available. This is why I am supportive of the goals of the new law which removes barriers to housing production and increases zoning for multi family housing and I hope that Framingham will support zoning to align with the law.
In Framingham, today, the lowest priced single family home available for sale is $525,000, according to the Realtor.com website, a first time homebuyer putting 10% down would have a mortgage of $4,046/month. Ask yourself if your income could support the purchase of that home?
I hope Framingham can support a solution to the housing crisis and take steps to ensure that our seniors, our young people, our teachers and other members of the municipal workforce can afford a home here. I encourage the Mayor, Planning Board and City Council to work together and support zoning to align with the new law.
