Union Ave. Bridge Is 'Out' In Framingham: Detours In Place

Due to apparent structural problems with the bridge, it was closed by officials.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Detours are in place to route around the Christopher T Garrahan Memorial Bridge Bridge on Union Ave. as of Saturday night, according to Framingham police.

The "bridge is out," announced police, sharing photos clearly showing a large crack in the bridge. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Maple Street to Franklin Street. Northbound traffic is detoured at the lights at Mt. Wayte to Franklin street.

The bridge, according to the police, is closed due to an issue with the northern joint of the bridge. A structural engineer is in the process of evaluating the bridge.
