When Will I Know My Child's Bus Stop?
For security reasons, Framingham Public Schools will not publish bus routes for the 2015-16 season.

For security reasons, Framingham Public Schools will not be publishing complete bus routes for the district for the first time.
In the past bus routes were publicly published on the Framingham Public Schools web site as well as media outlets, like Framingham Patch. That will not happen anymore.
Parents will be able to access their child’s individual bus stop, but they will not have access to the complete bus route.

“We will make the bus stops accessible to parents,” said Framingham Public Schools Chief Operating Officer Ed Gotgart. “We just are not putting it out their publicly.”
Parents in the past knew what time the route started and when the bus was to have arrived at their child’s school, bus they also had access to each stop along the route. Under the new system, that information will not be made public or to parents.

This year, explained Gotgart to Framingham Patch, parents when logging into the school district’s parent portal will be able to view their child’s bus stop only.
Bus stops for students K-12 should be available on the parent portal this week.
Editor’s Note: I was able to log in and see my daughter’s bus number, the location of her bus stop, what time the high school bus would pick her up, and what time the bus would drop her off on yesterday, Aug. 17 via the parent portal.
Parents will need their child’s ID number to log into the portal, and a password, they created.

This means all parents will need a computer or a smart phone to access their child’s bus route.
Gotgart said there was not an incident in the 2014-15 school year that prompted the change, but rather the public school district being “cautious” and “careful.”
“We want to protect the students,” and by noting publishing the routes, it makes the stops safer, said Gotgart to Framinaghm Patch.
In the past some parents, who may have missed their bus at their assigned stop would drive to another stop so their child could use the bus transportation to school.
Under the new system, parents will only know their child’s bus stop and this will cut down on frantic parents trying to stop the bus on its route.
The district is adding bus routes for King Elementary School this year, said Gotgart. The need is because the school will now have both kindergarten and grade 1 students in 2015-16.
Framingham Public Schools provides busing for Saint Bridget School and Christa McAuliffe Charter School students, who live in Framingham. Parents who have children at those schools will not be able to access the Framingham Public Schools Parental Portal. They should check with their school for their child’s bus route.
Keefe Technical High and Marian High schools have their own bus transportation different than Framingham Public Schools.
