100 Wenham Homes Without Power as Damaging Winds Move Through

Winds gusting to nearly 50 miles per hour on Wednesday evening knocked out power to a section of Wenham.

Nearly 100 electric customers were without power in Wenham on Wednesday evening after a tree came down on wires.

It happened at about 5 p.m. on Pleasant Street, near the Foundation for Continuing Education’s Boston Conference Center (former YMCA Camp Madaca). Wenham Fire Department crews were on scene and National Grid was notified.

National Grid said 96 customers were without electricity, as of 5:45 p.m., and power will be restored by 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, the wind was gusting up to 47 miles per hour at the Beverly Airport weather station. A wind advisory was in effect for the North Shore, including Hamilton and Wenham, through Thursday morning. Gusts up to 50 mph were expected through Wednesday night and into Thursday.
